As early as in 1964 when we were founded, we were only a small factory producing agricultural products. In 1980’s we initated production of Monosodium Glutamate( MSG). Very soon Star Lake MSG became a household name in China.
 Now over three decades have passed since the very beginning, we have over 2,500 employees, and our product profolio has been developed from MSG to APIs, Pharmaceutical intermediates, food additives, feed additives, seasonings etc. And we have become the largest manufacturer on globe of Ribavirin, Inosine, and L-Proline.
    Our success does not simply reply on capacity and we keep in our mind that quality is the key of success. Under the comprehensive QC system, regular tests on products are carried out with multifarious equipments like the liquid chromatograph, the gas chromatograph, the infrared spectrophotometer, and the ultraviolet spectrophotometer to ensure that all products coming out of our gates are of supreme quality. In 2002, the whole group obtained the ISO 9001:2000 certificate. In 2001, our biochemical pharmaceutical factory was accredited with the cGMP certificate. And in 2002, Ribavirin of our origin was approved by FDA. Later in 2005 and 2006, the Bio-fermentation factory for l-threonine feed grade won the certificate of HACCP, and FAMI-QS.
    Star Lake also excels in new product development. 110 technicians are working in test cabinets and labs respectively for fermentation, decontamination and chemical synthesis, etc. Our state-level R&D center also includes a post-doctoral station, which is enjoying pretty good cooperation with key institutes of higher education and technical research organizations in China.

History

    ·1964 Star Lake originates from the Micro-biological Factory of Zhaoqing.

    ·1980 The Micro-biological Factory was renamed Zhaoqing Gourment Power Factory. Star Lake MSG won a good name in China, and obtained many prizes in food expos.

    ·1986 Inosine was put into production. And Star Lake Inosine ranks first in production around the world and occupies over 50% domestic market shares.

    ·1992 Star Lake Gourment Powder Co., Ltd. was founded.

    ·1994 Star Lake Gourment Powder Co., Ltd, the forerunner in the MSG business, was listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange.

    ·1995 Star Lake began to produce L-Proline. Star Lake Proline occupies over 50% domestic market shares and is active in European, American and Asian markets.

    ·1997 Ribavirin was put into production.

    ·1999 The initiating production of Star Lake Ribonucleotide symbolized the end of an era in which only Korea and Japan could produce the same product. Star Lake Ribonucleotide captures over 50% domestic market shares and is distributed all over the world.

    ·2000 The whole group was renamed Star Lake Bioscience Co., Inc. zhaoqing Guangdong. Correspondingly, the code name in Shanghai Stock Exchange was also changed to Star Lake Biocience. The product profolio was developed from solely MSG product (gourment powder) to APIs, intermediates, gene-engineering products and food additives.

    ·2000 A State-level R&D Center was set up.

    ·2002 Star Lake Ribavirin successfully passed audit of FDA from US.

    ·2002 A post-doctoral station was established in R&D center.

    ·2003 Star Lake Ribavirin played an important role in the worldwide anti-SARS warfare.

    ·2005 Star Lake initiated production of L-Threonine feed grade in the Bio-fermentation Factory.

    ·2005 The Bio-fermentation Factory was accredited with certificates of ISO and HACCP.

    ·2006 The Bio-fermentation successfully obtained the FAMI-QS certificate.
